NEW PHILADELPHIA - The Ohio Small Business Development Center (OSBDC) at Kent State - Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia is hosting free Entrepreneurship, Inc. training courses in Coshocton. The two hour course provides an in-depth overview of most everything an individual will deal with when starting a business. There is a minimal charge to cover material cost for the course. "It's intended to help potential entrepreneurs head off as many problems as possible when starting a new business since such a high percentage of new business ventures fail," said OSBDC Director Steve Schillig. The Coshocton Port Authority has one tool available for small business which is its revolving loan fund. Employers with less than 50 workers may be eligible for up to a $50,000 loan. Two recent loan recipients include EVO Industries and Uncorked which are both located in Coshocton. Financing may also be obtained from the Small Business Administration, private lenders, and the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA) among other organizations. Port Authority Executive Director T.J. Justice said new applicants who have no previous experience owning a business are now required to participate in the course prior to being considered for a local revolving loan fund. Training courses will be held once a month through the end of the year with the next session scheduled from 10:00 a.m. - noon at the Progress Center, 401 Main Street, Coshocton. There are a limited number of openings for each class and interested parties should contact Schillig at 330-308-7479 or
